Mackenzie
In Memory of Mackenzie Grace Gonzalez
I first had the absolute pleasure of meeting Mackenzie on Christmas Eve when delivering presents to her family home from a donation drive that was organized by my dear friend, Dawn George of Children Battling Cancer. My husband and I were just planning to drop the presents by and hurry on our way. Well, Mackenzie and the Lord had different plans for us and I am so blessed and thankful that she was awake that evening and I was able to experience a big HUG from this little darling! The doctor's had said, she didn't have much time left. Thank Heavens she fought long and hard for almost another 2 years and I had the privledge of getting my HUGS from her many more times. We were even blessed wtih her presence at one of our benefit concerts and were able to financially help her cause and her family several times. Thank you to all my friends and family that supported her cause when I reached out to you for help.
Just a few short weeks prior to our 3rd benefit concert, Mackenzie became very ill with yet another tumor in her tiny body. As she lay in a coma, her parent's invited me to the hospital where I was able to sing to her and play music on her ears. It was bittersweet and an experience I will carry with me forever. As our concert grew near I knew the keyboards I had planned to surprise her with along with music lessons would not be possible because her little body would fight no longer. Three days before our event she entered Heaven and became an angel! Although I am happy knowing she is at peace, Mackenzie has left a mark on my heart that will forever be special.
I miss your hugs Mackenzie, fly high little angel, fly high!
Much Love, Kristi Huddleston
